The claims that President Bola Tinubu is utilizing the commission to go after opposition party members have been denied by Ola Olukoyede, the head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
During an interview on Wednesday’s Politics Today on Channels Television, Olukoyede made this assertion. He called the President’s actions “the good work he is doing” and said the claims were an attempt to deflect attention away from them.
According to the head of the EFCC, the president is more concerned about the performance of senior government officials.
This president that we have right now deserves appreciation from the people of Nigeria, and I mean it when I say that. Having this job has nothing to do with it.
When you see the president, the body language says, “Look, what have you done?” This is true for everyone, but especially for those who deal closely with him, are members of the Federal Executive Council, or are in charge of agencies, ministries, or departments. “You seem to be doing pretty well.”
The government is too busy to worry about this, and the man simply doesn’t have the time to deal with it. Their only intention is to divert the president’s attention from his task. A close friend or family member of his will tell you that he prefers to listen to nothing except the performance, Olukoyede added.
