In a nighttime ambush in Borno, troops neutralize an ISWAP informant

In the early hours of Friday, troops from Sector 3, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) under Operation Hadin Kai were able to neutralize an individual they suspected of being an informant associated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

This operation was carried out in Borno State’s Karagawaru area under the Kaga Local Government Area as part of Operation Desert Sanity IV, which is currently underway. Military sources have confirmed that the 29 Task Force Brigade was responsible for carrying out the ambush.

Based on reliable information, the soldiers prepared for a possible crossing by positioning themselves strategically.

Around 12:30 in the morning, they spotted the suspect and confronted him; he was allegedly collecting information for Boko Haram and its ISWAP faction.

Defeating the suspect was a primary goal of the confrontation. The informant was believed to have utilized a bicycle for both movement and observation, and troops found a Dane rifle that was made locally.

At about 3:40 a.m., the soldiers made it back to their base without incident, which was a major tactical victory in the battle against the insurgency in the area.
