The Yobe State Police Command has ramped up security operations throughout the state following the temporary closure of all boarding schools by the state government as a precautionary safety measure.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, revealed the new security measures after holding a strategic security conference with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Heads of Departments, and members of the Command’s management team.
The purpose of the meeting was to enhance the state’s security framework in response to emerging threats, especially around schools and vital public infrastructure.
During the conference, CP Ado provided operational directives for the immediate implementation of improved security strategies across schools, public facilities, and communities in the state. He instructed DPOs and tactical commanders to create detailed action plans and strengthen collaboration with community leaders, vigilante groups, and neighborhood watch associations to ensure comprehensive and effective security coverage.
The police commissioner also highlighted the significance of intelligence-led policing, inter-agency cooperation, and early-warning systems.
Additionally, he mandated the enhancement of visibility policing, increased patrols, night detachments, and rapid-response operations to guarantee swift intervention in cases of kidnapping, insurgency, or other criminal threats.
