Oba Ewuare II has taken action against Chief Sunday Enoma, the traditional priest (Ohen-Ovia) of Unuamen Village in the Ovia Northeast Local Government Area, for allegedly breaching the established customs and traditions of Benin.
This news was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba, Osaigbovo Iguobaro.
In the statement, Oba Ewuare also reaffirmed Chief Kingsley Igbinosa as the Okao, or traditional head, of Unuamen Village.
The Oba rejected the claims made by the suspended priest regarding his involvement in the installation of the Okao, describing those claims as baseless, unfounded, and unacceptable.
Oba Ewuare stressed that the authority to confer all chieftaincy titles within the Benin Kingdom is solely the Oba’s prerogative.
