Troops have neutralised five bandits and recovered motorcycles in Sokoto and Zamfara

Members of the 8 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army in Sokoto successfully neutralised five armed criminals and seized weapons and motorcycles during a coordinated operation in various areas of Sokoto and Zamfara states.

A reliable source from the army informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the operation commenced on Wednesday.

“This operation dealt a significant blow to banditry, as it was part of a sweeping offensive aimed at notorious hideouts across Sokoto and Zamfara States.

“The coordinated attacks focused on known bandit enclaves in Gangara, Makawana, Satiru, Baici, and Kurkusu villages within the Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto state.

“The rapid advance disrupted the criminal networks, causing many to flee as the military took control of the troubled areas,” the source stated.

The source also mentioned that the operation intensified in Batamna village of Shinkafi LGA in Zamfara state, where soldiers faced heavy resistance.

“In a fierce exchange of gunfire, the troops neutralised five bandits and recovered weapons, motorcycles, and baofeng radios that the bandits used for their illegal activities,” the source added.

It is worth noting that in December, troops from the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army had neutralised notorious bandit leaders, Kachalla Kallamu and Kachalla Na’Allah, in the Sabon Birnin and Isa local government areas of Sokoto state.

The Special Adviser to Governor Ahmad Aliyu on Security Matters, retired Col. Ahmad Usman, along with other citizens, praised the Nigerian Army and security operatives for their significant achievements against banditry in the state.
