Dikko Umaru Radda, governor of Katsina State, has reiterated the administration’s commitment to eradicating banditry and safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
During a condolence visit to Gobirawa hamlet in Dutsinma Local Government Area, where armed bandits recently attacked and killed many civilians, Governor Radda made the declaration on Friday.
The visit was scheduled just a few days following the tragic attack, which caused immense sadness and outrage.
Although he felt bad for the impacted people, Radda reassured them that his government was working on new ways to make local security networks stronger.
According to him, security forces were quickly deployed to the village after receiving information about an impending attack. “Our deepest regrets are expressed by the fact that the assailants attacked not long after the operatives departed.”
As a quick action following the tragedy, the governor directed the Dutsinma Local Government Chairman to convene a strategic meeting with five community representatives to discuss ways to enhance grassroots engagement in security.
Additionally, he urged the locals to remain watchful and provide information on informants who may be collaborating with criminal gangs. “Facing this threat requires community cooperation,” he emphasised.
Accompanying Governor Radda were prominent members of the local community, such as Mohammad Khamis, who represents Dutsinma in the State Assembly, Alhaji Sada Sada, who heads the Yandakan Katsina District, and Kabir Shema, who chairs the Dutsinma Council.
Meanwhile, the governor paid a visit to the Charanci Local Government Area to oversee construction of a brand new “Smart School” in the town of Radda. The program is an element of his administration’s larger strategy to increase enrolment in high-quality educational programs, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
Three model secondary schools, one in each senatorial district, are being constructed by the Radda-led government to provide pupils with modern learning materials.
Throughout the inspection, Radda repeatedly reminded the contractors to work faster and better to avoid any setbacks that could compromise the project’s objectives.
