Dikko Umaru Radda, governor of Katsina State, has authorised a new system of grading for traditional rulers in an effort to fortify the state’s grassroots governance and security.
In a message on his official Facebook, he revealed the news.
The governor has stated that the reform is being carried out in accordance with the 2025 Emirate Law, which states that all district heads are to be placed on Grade Level 16, while all village heads are to be placed on Grade Level 10, statewide.
Traditional rulers, according to Radda, will benefit from the change and will be better able to play a role in fostering community-level peace, stability, and growth.
He stated that the reform was an expression of their dedication to enhancing traditional institutions’ abilities to promote grassroots development and peace.
He elaborated by saying that the project was the result of teamwork between several parties, including traditional leaders, the Local Government Service Commission, and others.
In addition, the governor mentioned that the state’s security situation has started to improve, which he attributed to the combined efforts of the government, security services, and community leaders.
He emphasised that the key to maintaining growth in the state would be the ongoing cooperation among stakeholders.
