President Bola Tinubu has described the difficulties he faced on his path to becoming Nigeria’s president.
Tinubu made the revelation on Friday in Lagos, when he hosted members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, for a Sallah homage at his Lagos mansion.
He thanked several of the governors who began the journey with him, praising their patience and fortitude.
“Rather than avoid the bullet, I took it. I suffered a fairly severe hit to the chin.
“We stuck together as I confronted the challenge of attempting to become President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“It was quite tough. It was difficult for the people who were with me. Some remained faithful.
“I decided to make an effort to campaign.” I did not tell anyone what I planned to do. Many of you took the risk and supported me because of the party platform and everything,” he explained.
