Most party primaries were illegitimate, according to Sam Amadi

The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has stated that the majority of the recently finished primary elections across numerous political parties were fraudulent.

Amadi stated this in an interview with Arise Television, claiming that the results fuelled internal tensions and damaged the party leadership.

He claims that the parties are incapable of enforcing discipline among hopefuls and members.

“Most political primaries were fraudulent. Even some House of Representatives candidates were supported by zoning, but they did not make the final list, demonstrating the importance of governors’ power.

“Look at the disarray in the parties’ organisations: fresh arrivals crowd away existing members. For example, in Delta State, former governor Ifeanyi Okowa was able to unseat Ned Nwoko.

“Not necessarily that the likes of Nwoko didn’t perform but they have been dislocated by some structural changes,” he stated.
