Visits family of MACBAN commander who was killed, calls for calm

As authorities ramp up their investigations into the killing of Fulani chieftain Risku Muhammad in Ohimini Local Government Area, the government of Benue State and the Nigeria Police Force have conveyed their condolences to his family and urged caution.

On Tuesday, the Deputy Governor of Benue State paid a condolence visit in the name of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The group included the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4, Makurdi, the Commissioner of Police for Benue State, representatives from the Sultan of Sokoto, MACBAN officials, other security personnel, and relatives of the deceased who had travelled from various regions of the nation.

During the visit, representatives from the government and security forces conveyed their condolences to the grieving family and asked the Fulani people to refrain from violence and revenge.

A thorough and impartial investigation into the murder should be allowed by the family, they urged the family.

Additionally, the delegation reassured the family that the state government and security agencies were hell-bent on finding the criminals and bringing them to justice.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is currently working on the matter, according to police officials, who also noted that detectives are trying to determine what happened.
