Agents of the Rivers State Police Command have apprehended three individuals purportedly connected to the homicide of two police officers in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
The directive indicated that the cops were engaged in stop-and-search operations in the Aluu region on June 29, 2026, when the attackers executed a commando-style assault, discharged firearms at them, and absconded with their AK-47 weapons.
As per the declaration by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, one officer underwent limb amputation as a result of bullet wounds incurred during the assault but ultimately perished from his injuries while being treated in the hospital.
The announcement indicated that the apprehension of the suspects was in accordance with orders from the State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, for an expedited inquiry, the capture of the offenders, and the retrieval of the pilfered guns and additional weaponry in their possession.
It was reported that, pursuant to the direction, operators from the command’s Violence Crime Response Unit, utilising reliable intelligence and ongoing tactical manoeuvres, tracked the suspects to their refuge and apprehended them.
The announcement states: “The Rivers State Police Command has achieved a notable advancement in the inquiry concerning the horrific slaying of two police officers who were assaulted during a stop-and-search operation in the Aluu Division on June 29, 2026, resulting in one officer sustaining a life-threatening leg injury that necessitated amputation.”
