Following his meeting with Pope Francis on Easter Sunday, US Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha released a statement.
On Friday, Vice President Vance sent a short message on his X account expressing his appreciation for the encounter with Pope Francis. Pope Francis was then wished good health by Vance.
I had a meeting with Pope Francis, the Holy Father, today. I hope he’s doing well, and I appreciate his invitation to meet. I hope you have a happy Easter! He made a note on X. This news breaks just as Christians throughout the world are celebrating Easter this year.
An earlier Vatican statement stated that the pope, in his Easter speech, demanded a “just and lasting peace” in Ukraine and criticized the current government for its treatment of migrants and other marginalized and vulnerable populations.
