On Monday, Zhang Yi, who is in charge of Chinese affairs at the Nigerian embassy, reiterated China’s backing for the country’s infrastructure development efforts.
This was announced by him while the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network was being commissioned. The project was being managed by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Symbolising the strengthening links between the two countries, Yi said the water project would pave the way for additional collaboration in other areas.
This initiative is an example of cooperation between China and Nigeria, a symbol of our deep relationship, and a key accomplishment under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his successful State visit to China last year, he said.
The project’s financial backing from NEXIM Bank of China ensured its effective execution and made it possible.
“China has shown its steadfast support for Nigeria’s infrastructure development and socio-economic progress through the successful completion of this project.”
Project commissioning ceremonies including President Bola Tinubu and other notable figures are taking place all around the Federal Capital Territory at the moment. Over the course of 10 days, projects overseen by Wike will be commissioned.
