Retired General Theophilus Y. Danjuma, Nigeria’s former minister of defense, has issued a new call to arms, urging the people to be vigilant in protecting themselves in the face of growing insecurity.
Danjuma, speaking at an Easter appreciation ceremony in Taraba State’s Takum Local Government Area, stressed the importance of people taking self-defense actions in light of the growing number of attacks by terrorists and bandits.
“Bandits and terrorists will take over our society if our people do not stand up and defend themselves,” Danjuma said.
In addition, he stressed the need of communities being watchful and taking initiative to protect their surroundings. The nation risks plunging into more anarchy if its citizens are not united and prepared, the older statesman said.
In addition to his security message, Danjuma took the time to thank his employees, business associates, and associated companies.
The staff at the TY Danjuma Medical Centre were singled out for particular recognition, and he lauded their perseverance and commitment in providing vital healthcare services in spite of difficult conditions.
