Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has been asked by former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore to resign.
According to the Daily Post, the board humbly acknowledged mistakes on Wednesday in response to the widespread outcry over the high number of failed students on the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. As Oloyede sobbed to the candidates impacted by the technological mistakes, she also broke down in tears.
Sowore, on the other hand, thinks that the Registrar should quit because apologizing for the “organization’s egregious errors” isn’t enough. The prominent activist has demanded a probe of the board once he resigns.
“The Registrar of the Jamb official Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Prof. Oloyede bears responsibility for the organization’s egregious errors, which have devastatingly claimed a young life. Shedding crocodile tears is not a remedy for these infractions,” he wrote.
His resignation should be the first order of business, and then there should be an investigation into the matter and the possibility of manslaughter charges. On top of that, JAMB needs to be eliminated. Let there be a revolution immediately.
