Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General Abubakar Malami has denied allegations of corruption under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
According to Malami, corruption was not rampant throughout Buhari’s presidency, and hundreds of individuals were convicted in high-profile corruption cases during that time. He made the announcement during his appearance on Tuesday night’s Arise TV show.
Malami was adamant that Buhari fought corruption head-on while in power. Malami claims that corruption did not flourish under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
“The government recorded convictions in the thousands when you talk about high-profile corruption cases.” It was during Buhari’s government that $2 billion in stolen funds were recovered, according to Malami.
“He introduced the Single Treasury Account, which brought about a transparency in government funding that was visible to all levels of governance,” Malami added.
