The loss of life among security personnel ambushed in Katsina-Ala, Benue State, during a combined clearance operation has been voiced by Hon. Jonathan Modi, the Executive Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area.
The chairman expressed his deepest sympathies to the Nigerian Police Force, the Civil Protection Guards, and the Nigerian Hunters Council in a condolence message released on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in the wake of the terrible death of their members.
In Mbatyula, Agu Centre, Katsina-Ala LGA, suspected herders and militia groups ambushed officers assigned to Operation Anyam Nyor on Friday, according to Naijatrial. Thirteen officers have been reported missing, with three bodies found thus far.
Among those who have gone missing is ASP Danlami Usman, also known as Dan Zuru, the operation’s commander under Bush. There were multiple reports of injuries among other staff.
According to Hon. Modi, the fallen officers gave their lives protecting the people.
In his harsh condemnation, he used the words “barbaric,” “unacceptable,” and “a gross violation of law and order” to describe the assault.
The chairman promised the public that his administration would stand the security authorities as they work to restore order in the region, while also praying for the repose of the souls of the fallen and the swift recovery of the injured.
