The Abia State Police Command has ramped up its efforts to safeguard schools, places of worship, and other vital infrastructure throughout the State, in line with the directives from the Inspector General of Police.
Additionally, the Command has implemented routine registers in schools to enhance accountability among officers assigned to these responsibilities and to ensure they adhere to their duties.
On Tuesday, Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa made this announcement during an important security meeting with traditional rulers, community leaders, Chief Security Officers from various companies, representatives from tertiary institutions, schools, and market leaders.
The CP highlighted that these meetings will occur regularly to gather feedback on security conditions in different communities within Abia, reminding stakeholders of their essential roles as partners in the fight against crime. In light of the escalating insecurity, there is increasing pressure for the establishment of a state police force.
He urged stakeholders to consistently provide timely information to the Police and to collaborate closely with their respective DPOs and Area Commanders.
The Commissioner of Police also called for the reactivation and enhancement of community security watches, urging stakeholders to refrain from protecting criminals.
The CP advised those involved in such practices to stop and instead contribute positively to the safety of their surroundings.
Furthermore, he reassured attendees that both visible and hidden security measures have been strengthened, indicating that residents should anticipate heightened police presence and operational activities aimed at protecting lives and property.
