Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has declared Inter Miami’s captain, Lionel Messi, as the greatest footballer ever.
Yamal also discussed the upcoming Finalissima where Argentina will face Spain in March 2026. The 18-year-old Spain international shared his thoughts in a recent interview with CBS’s ’60 Minutes’.
Yamal stated (via Barca Universal): “I believe that Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer of all time, but he also recognizes that I’m a talented player.
“There will be mutual respect when we compete against each other.
“He understands that I’m not trying to emulate him, play like him, or wear the number 10 jersey like he does. I aspire to be my own person,” he continued.
Messi is the most decorated footballer in history, having amassed 47 trophies throughout his illustrious career so far.
