Wole Oluyede, a candidate for the Ekiti PDP governorship, has issued a stern warning to his political opponents, claiming to be the “Omolaja” (unifier) of the party and the driving force behind the movement to unseat the current ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming June 20, 2026 election.
Oluyede made it crystal apparent at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ikere Ekiti that all of his current political endeavours are calculated attempts to solidify his hold on power and ensure his win.
“I am the Omolaja of Ekiti PDP—the one bringing everyone together,” stated PDP governorship candidate Oluyede in a press statement released to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday by Gani Salau, who is also Oluyede’s special adviser on media. They are terrified of that. They feel uneasy because of that.
Oluyede, in response to complaints about his high-level meetings, said that the PDP’s greatest weapon is unity across divisions and that critics are politically unimportant.
Their criticism is valid. Just let them gripe. “They can keep chatting all they want, but we’re working and winning,” he shot.
He insisted that party members unite and support his strategy, saying that divisions serve only Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.
We can win this election if we all pull together. Just get down to business. The end is in sight,” he declared.
Oluyede attacked the APC-led administration, saying that despite having access to vast resources, Ekiti has remained underdeveloped.
He promised an Independent Power Plant (IPP) to put an end to power outages, a fully operational ring road network, jobs for young people and a stop to street idleness, workers’ salaries paid on time and a bonus for the thirteenth month, and that unpaid pensions, gratuities, and leave bonuses would be addressed immediately.
“Ekiti must change its current course. It is enough. It is enough of being in a rut. The state will be fixed,” he vowed.
Oluyede made his ambition clear:
I shall have completed my mission as governor of Ekiti State by the time I reach Oke Ayoba on October 16, 2026. It will proceed unimpeded.
The battle for Ekiti has begun, according to Makanjuola Ogundipe, the Director-General of the Campaign Council, who urged party members to start ward-to-ward mobilisation immediately.
Tunji Odeyemi, the Ekiti PDP chairman, echoed the statement and urged members to turn their support into votes.
Deji Ogunsakin, a candidate for the position of deputy governor, made his message clear:
“We must now eliminate incompetence by voting it out. Oluyede is the change that Ekiti needs, and the people of Ekiti deserve it.
“God has started this journey, and He will finish it in victory,” party leader and former senator Duro Faseyi declared, describing Oluyede’s rise as divine.
Rather than relying on emotions, the Campaign Organisation emphasised the need of unity, strategy, and strong mobilisation in order to win the election.
Now is not the moment to be divided. You should seize authority at this moment. Ekiti will rise with Oluyede; the state must rise.
