Duba Ishaya Dodo, a Nasarawa North Social Democratic Party (SDP) senate candidate, has resigned from the party with immediate effect.
In a letter dated April 21, 2026, from his Gudi Ward in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to the SDP chairman, Dodo conveyed his choice.
What he called “deep reflection and careful consideration” of recent events within the party led him to this choice, he said in the letter.
He said he could no longer be a member of the party since his political goals and the party’s current course of action were incompatible, even if he had helped the party expand and do many things.
The current party structure and internal operations do not fit with the values that initially attracted him, thus continuing to be a member will no longer help him be effectively represented politically, he stated.
After that, Dodo asked for his name to be erased from the party roster and any other official documents.
