In the run-up to the 2027 governorship election, members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly who are part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform have promised to back Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada wholeheartedly. Sule is the current governor of the state.
Following a meeting of the majority caucus, during which they discussed party harmony, internal harmony, and state politics, the MPs voiced their stance.
After the meeting, Danladi Jatau, speaker of the house, spoke to reporters and stated that the APC legislators are still completely behind the governor’s decision.
We have endorsed Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as Governor Sule’s preferred successor and discussed matters of party advancement, peace, and unity. We are one, we are faithful to our party, and we will follow the governor’s decision as APC legislators,” he declared.
Governor Sule was praised by Jatau for his leadership and the collaboration between the state’s different branches of government, which he said had brought about peace and progress.
We are grateful to His Excellency for the leadership he is providing in running the country. “Stability and progress have been brought about by the relationship between the executive and the legislature,” he continued.
In a statement that reiterated their earlier promise made during discussions with candidates for governor, the parliamentarians stated their complete support for Senator Wadada.
No matter who the governor chooses, we have promised to back all of the candidates. We stand by that stance. When asked who would succeed Governor Sule in 2027, he declared his entire support for Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.
To ensure the victory of the APC in the upcoming general elections, the Speaker urged all other candidates to embrace the governor’s decision and unite the party.
