Ifo 2 State Constituency inhabitants are being affected by standing water, and the Ogun State House of Assembly has urged the Lagos State Government and Salini Nigeria Limited to address the issue and remove the water.
During Thursday’s engagement with stakeholders, Oluseun Adesanya, who is leading the House Committee on Justice, Ethics, and Public Petitions, made the appeal.
The Baale Akinosi Area Community Development Council petitioned the Lagos State Government about environmental deterioration caused by a water pipeline project, according to Naijatrial’s reporting.
Rumour has it that the Ifo 2 State Constituency communities along the Akute/Baale/Alausa/Oke-Aro corridor were impacted by the project.
Adesanya said that the impacted communities should get their concerns addressed by the representatives of the Lagos State Government, which included a former Permanent Secretary in Ogun State, Mrs. Cecilia Olajide, Mr. Olanrewaju Fashola, Murtala Lawal, and the Contractor, Daniele Cifola.
The necessity of constructing a drainage and asphalting the pipeline to alleviate the locals’ suffering was something he repeatedly emphasised.
Along with other lawmakers including as Folawewo Salami, Dickson Awolaja, and Babatunde Tella, the Committee Chairman emphasised the importance of inviting additional stakeholders.
To resolve the matter in due course, the stakeholders include, among others, officials from the Lagos Adiyan Waterworks, Salini Nigeria Limited, and the Environment, Works and Infrastructure, and Water Resources Ministries of Ogun State.
