The US Embassy in Nigeria has claimed that there is a security threat in Abuja city, but the Nigerian government denies the accusation.
In response to an advisory issued by the US Mission in Nigeria, the government issued the reply on Monday.
As previously reported by Naijatrial, the US Mission in Nigeria issued a warning to American nationals against making unannounced trips to Abuja’s military and government buildings.
U.S. Embassy personnel and their families are currently prohibited from travelling to any government venue in Abuja, including military installations, “due to increased security concerns arising from current global developments,” according to the mission’s statement.
Abuja is still a safe place to live and visit, according to the Nigerian government’s quick response.
Mohammed Idris, Nigeria’s Minister of Information, released a statement in which he acknowledged the recent security warning from the US Embassy, which forbids US citizens and their families from visiting military installations and other government buildings in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Abuja is still a secure place to visit, live, or work, and the federal government acknowledges and respects the authority of foreign embassies, including the United States Embassy, to issue travel warnings to their nationals.
Everyone in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the rest of Nigeria is under constant watch from the country’s security forces. There have been notable successes in detecting, preventing, and neutralising threats with the current security architecture in Abuja.
