Accusations of sexual misconduct involving minors have led NAPTIP to call singer Speed Darlington

In response to claims of sexual misbehaviour involving a minor, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NATPIP) has summoned the controversial artist Darlington Okoye, better known by his stage name Speed Darlington.

This is in response to the singer’s recent remarks on Instagram Live, in which he implied having sex with a girl as young as fifteen.

The DSVA of Lagos State has informed NAPTIP of the situation and demanded an urgent and comprehensive inquiry into the worrying allegations.

Speed Darlington responded to the criticism with a second music video in which he said that the provocative comment was just a gimmick to promote a new single. Additionally, he expressed regret if his remarks had caused anyone pain or offence.

It was confirmed Thursday by NAPTIP in a statement that the singer had been called for questioning. If he does not accept the invitation, the agency threatened to sue him.

In all instances of suspected sexual abuse or exploitation, NAPTIP will ensure accountability and will continue to defend the rights of children.
