Given the current security situation in the country, the Osun State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has emphasised the importance of citizens continuing to be vigilant about their safety.
In the run-up to the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the agency urged further cooperation with traditional institutions to encourage peaceful civilian participation.
On Tuesday, while leading the agency’s management team on a sensitisation program, Adebiyi Adefarasin Stephen, the state director, made the request during an advocacy visit to Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, the Olowu of Kuta.
Before the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, Adefarasin indicated that the visit was a part of a larger campaign to rally traditional institutions behind voter education and to promote peaceful engagement in the voting process.
Traditional leaders, he said, are vital allies in community mobilisation because they promote national ideals, civic duty, and peaceful involvement from the ground up.
Members of the trip included COMOs from the Iwo, Ayedire, and Olaoluwa LGAs as well as the second-in-command of the WAI Brigade from the Osun State Command.
An opportunity to raise awareness of the NOA’s flagship National Values Charter—a document that seeks to foster patriotism and responsible citizenship—was also presented during the lobbying tour, as stated by the NOA director.
In light of the present state of national security, the residents of Osun State should maintain a vigilant sense of personal safety. He emphasised the need of residents embracing peaceful coexistence and actively participating in their community.
Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama responded by praising the National Orientation Agency, headed by Lanre Issa-Onilu, for launching the advocacy program.
The head of state of Osun State has promised the backing of the Kuta Kingdom in its efforts to hold a governorship election that is free from violence, fair, and based on principles.
Additionally, he urged the federal government to make funding the agency a top priority so it may carry out its duty efficiently and effectively.
In order to promote national values, educate voters, and encourage peaceful participation in the 2026 governorship election, the NOA is engaging with important stakeholders across Osun State on a regular basis, and this advocacy visit is a part of that effort.
