Rotimi Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress’ presidential running mate, has accused politicians of stealing unit-level results sheets during voting.
Amaechi cautioned that politicians steal result sheets, putting the lives of INEC ad-hoc staff at risk.
Addressing a gathering of teenagers, the former Rivers State governor stated: “On election day in your Ward and Unit, you finish voting and stand for the counting. I’ve been a politician my entire life and have never worked anywhere else.
“I left university in 1987 and entered politics the same year, so you won’t teach me; unit level is where they vote.”
“Politicians steal result sheets at the unit level, endangering the life of an INEC ad hoc officer. As he approaches, show us the result sheet or you will not go because politicians do not care about your life. Some parents must prevent their children from becoming ad hoc workers.”
He urged Nigerians to constantly request that their ballots be counted at polling stations throughout elections.
He added: “If there is a result sheet, we will queue up, and when they finish counting, if you don’t upload it, you are not going.”
