The Brazilian international, Antony, has shared that he declined a last-minute offer from Champions League side Bayern Munich before making a permanent move from Manchester United.
Real Betis reached an agreement with the Red Devils for a £21.65 million permanent transfer to bring the player on board.
Antony had previously spent the latter part of last season on loan at the Spanish club after struggling to find consistent playing time under Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim.
The 25-year-old was officially presented as a Betis player on Tuesday.
“I had discussions with Bayern, and while I’m not sure if the salary offer was €7 million, I informed them that I had Betis’ assurance and that the deal was 95% finalized, so I chose to honor my commitment,” Antony told Cadena COPE.
“I feel at peace with this choice because I am very content here. I received calls from more than five teams.”
