In anticipation of its presidential primary, which is scheduled for Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has established a seven-member Presidential Primary Election Committee.
The committee’s chairman was Anyim Pius Anyim, the former Senate President.
Former Senate President Ken Nnamani, Senator Victor Udo Udoma, Otunba Grace Titi Laoye-Ponle, former Taraba State Governor Rev. Jolly Nyame, and former Kogi State Governor Idris Wada are among the other members. Sanusi Musa will serve as the secretary.
The APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, disclosed the development in a notice.
The party also disclosed the establishment of a Presidential Primary Election Appeal Committee, which will be led by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari.
Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been appointed as a member of the appeal committee, while Samuel Piwuna will serve as its secretary.
Further, the APC deployed 37 coordinators and collation officers throughout the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory in anticipation of the exercise.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum are among the individuals who have been appointed as coordinators.
Additional governors include Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Yakubu Dogara, former speaker of Bauchi State, Benjamin Kalu, former speaker of Abia State, and Phillip Aduda, former senator of the Federal Capital Territory.
The party has announced that the presidential primary election will be conducted simultaneously in all 8,809 constituencies of the country as delegates prepare to select the APC presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The exercise is widely perceived in political circles as a measure that is anticipated to reaffirm support for the current administration.
