Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, claimed on Thursday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in a state of panic over defections to the African Democratic Congress.
Melaye made the assertion during Channels Television’s Morning Briefing.
He stated that the APC is terrified because the ADC is the only viable opposition that can challenge the ruling party in 2027.
“The APC has become so desperate, given that the ADC is the only opposition in Nigeria to challenge them in 2027.”
“They have observed an outflow of people from numerous political parties to the ADC.
“Me personally I’m shocked as to why they are panicking, they have 32 governors and have taken over, so why are you afraid?”
Melaye, an ADC member, went on to say that President Bola Tinubu prefers to be coronated rather than face an election.
“In a nutshell, it is not about ADC, but about democracy. President Bola Tinubu prefers to be coronated rather than elected.
“He wants us to practise a monarchical system of government,” he added.
