Isa Pantami, the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has withdrawn from the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State.
Barrister Ibrahim M. Attahir, on behalf of the Pantamiyya Movement, issued a statement on Tuesday in which Pantami disclosed his intention to withdraw.
The statement stated that the former minister withdrew due to violations of the Electoral Act 2026.
He also cited the APC leadership’s failure to provide the necessary information for a transparent and credible primary election in Gombe State.
The statement also stated that the letters written by his solicitors to party officials regarding concerns regarding the exercise were not acknowledged or responded to.
“The law must direct the process in a democracy.” “The exercise is rendered unsafe and illegitimate due to noncompliance with the Electoral Act 2026 and the party guidelines,” the statement stated.
