Claiming regional provocation, Russia and North Korea accuse the US and allies

U.S. and ally criticization of “provocative military activities” surrounding the Korean Peninsula has drawn criticism from Russia and North Korea.

Russia and North Korea both blame the drills for “the deteriorating security situation” across Northeast Asia and beyond.

On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with visiting Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui, and the two sides reached an agreement on a stance.

Addressing bilateral matters and the execution of the June 2024 agreements established between Putin and Kim Jong-un, Lavrov and Choe Son-hui engaged in a third session of strategic talks.

As a means of fortifying their alliance, they reaffirmed their intention to work toward finalising the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and the DPRK.

A new, more just multipolar global order based on equality and mutual respect will be established, the allies stated, and their cooperation will help achieve this goal.

President Vladimir Putin commended North Korea for its support during the special military operation and lauded the bilateral relations between Russia and the DPRK during a meeting with Minister Son-hui at the Kremlin.

Putin said that the Korean servicemen’s state medals were a result of their heroic actions in Ukraine, and he promised that Russia “will always be remembered in Russia” for their services.
