In a slander case that also involved another notable preacher, Alhaja Kafilat Kaola, a female Islamic scholar from Ibadan, was remanded at the Oke Kura Correctional Facility in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Just lately, Kaola warned the public, especially those interested in Islamic knowledge, to stay away from Akeugbagold, accusing him of being a diabolical cleric.
Responding, Akeugbagold disputed the accusations and said they hurt his reputation and company. To back up her charges, he encouraged Kaola to produce evidence.
The attorney for Kaola asked for bail on self-recognizance during Monday’s proceedings at Ganmo’s Upper Area Court, referencing her high profile and promising the judge that her client would not run away.
On the other hand, plaintiff’s lawyer Ajasa Ademola argued against Kaola’s release on bond, citing his prior involvement in a comparable occurrence.
Ajasa claimed that Kaola was ineligible for bail due to her behaviour, and he cited a video that went viral that reportedly showed her insulting a court and counsel in relation to a previous legal issue.
Kaola was ordered to remain on remand at the Oke Kura Correctional Facility until the next adjourned date, which is set for July 17, 2025, after the judge considered arguments from both sides.
