The Nigeria National League (NNL) has demoted Gateway United, according to the Naijatria. On the last day of the 2025 NNL season at Uyo, the Abeokuta-based club lost 3-0 to Godswill Akpabio FC.
In 20 NNL matches played in Group B, Gateway United went 6–5, with 9 losses. They had been playing in the second division for fifteen years, but this defeat ends their run.
The upcoming season will see Gateway United play in the Nationwide League One (NLO). The dream lives on, even though the journey takes a detour,” Gateway United remarked after the game.
