Ikorodu City jumps to third place after losing to Remo Stars in Ibadan

After Sunday’s 1-0 away win over Shooting Stars, Remo Stars drew closer to claiming the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) championship for the first time.

For Daniel Ogunmodede’s squad, the game-winning goal came on the hour mark from Alex Oyowah. Now with 65 points after 34 games, Remo Stars are at the top of the standings.

With a 1-0 victory over Sunshine Stars in Port Harcourt, Rivers United solidified their grip on second place. Just six minutes before halftime, Suleiman Abba gave the Pride of Rivers the lead.

Ikorodu City’s 1-1 draw with El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri boosted their chances of making it to the continental tournament.

Ikorodu City took the lead in the 41st minute with Emmanuel Solomon, but the hosts equalized through Sama’ila Bello in the following four minutes. The outcome propelled Ikorodu City to third place in the standings.
