In the midst of mounting security worries caused by the repeated attacks of armed herdsmen, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has fervently called on the people of the state to stand united. Attacks on communities in Benue continue, he said.
Governor Alia characterized the situation as a grave danger to the state’s existence and urged the people to be united in their fight against it.
During his Sunday midterm report at the Vandeikya township stadium, he made this statement. To protect their neighborhoods, he emphasized that locals should stay alert and cooperate with security forces.
To make sure these peace measures persist, Governor Alia thanked the federal government for sending more security personnel and urged the public to do their part.
Education, healthcare, agriculture, information and communication technology, infrastructure, security, transportation, and human capital development were among the important areas that the governor cited as having made great strides under his administration.
He made the point that his administration has accomplished more in less than two years than the preceding administrations had in over ten years.
Gov. Alia thanked the residents of Vandeikya for their welcoming attitude and unwavering support, and he announced that fertilizer is being stored in warehouses for delivery to farmers in the lead-up to the 2025 planting season in an effort to increase food production.
The event’s chair, Hon. Prince Solomon Wombo, who represents the Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency, and the chairlady, Hon. Mrs. Kukase Garba, took the opportunity to express their gratitude for the Kunav people’s steadfast devotion to Governor Alia and their hope that they would continue to do so.
Among the dignitaries who were present were Hon. Dennis Guda, Chairman of the Vandeikya Council; Deacon Emmanuel Tor Yajir, Chairman of the KUDA; Hon. Terna Shimawua and Hon. Dr. Matthew Damkor, Members of the Tiev and Kyan Constituencies; Chief Nyiyongo Achiaku, His Royal Highness; and Hon. Chief Benjamin Omale, Chairman of the APC State.
They unanimously praised the governor’s work and emphasized the importance of public support going forward so the administration can bring more democratic benefits.
The event’s musical performances were heightened by the defection of over a thousand people from different political parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a major highlight.
