The government of Kwara State has proclaimed a zero tolerance policy towards school bullying and other forms of abuse among students in the educational institutions of the state.
This warning against school bullying and related offenses involving students is part of the government’s initiative to foster a safe and supportive learning environment throughout the state.
Mrs. Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, represented by Alhaji Abdulrasheed Ubandawaki, the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, shared this information while addressing a reported incident of school bullying that reached the ministry.
The commissioner emphasized that the state government will not tolerate any type of abuse among students, which includes bullying, body shaming, derogatory language, fighting, cult activities, drug abuse, and sexual harassment, among others.
Hajia Idiat Alabi, the Director of the Child Development Directorate, pointed out that there have been numerous reports of students harassing each other; therefore, the state government is issuing a formal warning against such behaviors.
She also highlighted that related incidents can be reported to the ministry at the Child Development Directorate, reiterating that the ministry’s mission is to safeguard children’s rights and ensure their overall well-being.
