The 25 LGUs in Niger State will receive a total of N151,721,702,602.11 in 2025, according to the Niger State House of Assembly’s approved budget.
The recurring spending portion of the budget is N96,286,909,470.58, and the capital expenditure portion is N55,434,793,131.53.
Under the leadership of Alhaji Bello Bako, the House Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs collaborated with the Ministry for Local Government and the Planning Commission to monitor compliance with financial requirements, according to the committee’s statement.
Bako pointed out that revenue collection had been impacted by instability in certain areas, which had resulted in unrealistic expectations.
“To address this, we recommended that local governments establish sound revenue mechanisms, block leakages, and improve capital allocations to impact the lives of citizens,” he stated.
Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, the Speaker, praised the Committee’s hard work and promised to step up monitoring to make sure the budget was really put into action.
In a unanimous vote, the House of Representatives approved the budget bill after much deliberation. After then, Speaker Sarkin-Daji told the House clerk to send an official version to the president for approval.
