Hamza Bello Madagali, the immediate former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, has been named the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s new state chairman.
In readjustments and compromises that resulted in the majority of the new APC state executives, the immediate past Secretary of the APC is now the deputy chairman, and the secretary is Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, the former state organising secretary.
Victor Dogo, the former PDP publicity secretary, has been appointed as the new state publicity secretary.
The new executives were announced and sworn in on Saturday evening during the state APC congress, which was held at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola.
The gathering marked the culmination of a series of internal arrangements initiated by ward and local government congresses around the state.
Madagali’s return to prominence, as a kinsman and friend of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, is seen as particularly significant, given that he was viewed by many observers as having lost out completely when he defected from the PDP to the APC two months ago with Fintiri and the governor’s other loyalists.
Fintiri, who appeared to have planned Madagali’s re-emergence from the start, appears to have opened the way by facilitating the election of the immediate past APC state chairman, Idris Shuaibu, as the party’s new National Vice Chairman for the North-East.
After being sworn in, Hamza Madagali told all APC members that they would be treated fairly, regardless of their standing.
Governor Fintiri, who also spoke, stated that as the state’s APC leader, he would work tirelessly to secure the party’s success at all levels in the upcoming general elections.
