Through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), the Nigerian government has announced the creation of more than 90,160 new jobs.
These positions were created in the first quarter of 2025, when over 116,000 entrepreneurs were also assisted nationwide, according to official announcements.
Thousands of small firms have been formalized and supported in registering with the Corporate Affairs Commission, according to the government.
According to Charles Odii, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of SMEDAN, “These businesses are now better positioned to access funding, participate in supply chains and compete in both local and international markets” (SMEDAN, 2010).

With a statement that read, “Our work aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises strengthening foundational structures and investing in initiatives that deliver tangible impact,” Odii reaffirmed SMEDAN’s commitment to national development.
