Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has stated that there are presently no plans to offer Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle a new contract extension following the AFCON competition in Morocco.
Chelle was appointed coach of the Super Eagles in January 2025.
The Malian led the three-time African champions to bronze after defeating Egypt.
Speaking with sports journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Gusau explained that conversations about Chelle’s contract extension are premature because the coach is barely halfway through his current two-year tenure.
“For now, There’ll be no contract extension discussion with Chelle,” Gasau informed me.
“We signed a 2-year contract with him in January 2025 and he’s still only halfway through his contract.”
