No real pal in the music business – Ruger

Michael Adebayo Olayinka, better known by his stage name Ruger, is an Afrobeats artist from Nigeria. He has made the remark that true friendship is very rare in the industry. According to him, there’s a limit of two true pals a musician may have in the business.

Ruger recently appeared on The Stanley Agu Show, where he discussed how relationships in the music industry tend to be more focused on business.

According to him, “no one is your friend in the [music] industry.” This is something he wishes he had known sooner. If you’re lucky, you’ll have at least two true friends who cheer you on, cheer you on when things go tough, and cheer you on when things go well. It’s all I have, dude.

“Life is all about making money. Nothing matters. Everything is business, you know. Because you can make an offer when they need it, they are travelling with you.

People will start looking elsewhere the second they think you can’t provide them with what they need. Hold on to the thought that you might only have two, one, or no friends at all in this field.
