Northern coalition: Why is it unnecessary to ask for the suspension of Nigeria’s SGF Akume due to the N80 billion fraud?

An alliance of northern advocacy organizations has laid forth the reasons why Senator George Akume’s suspension and subsequent request for an investigation into his actions is baseless and driven by political motives. Activist and coalition national coordinator Prince Miaphen made this explanation in a statement on Monday.

Allegations that the SGF impeded a N80 billion fraud investigation involving one of his assistants, Torhile Uchi, have led to calls for his resignation, and the coalition is defending Akume.

The accusation, according to Miaphen, is baseless and an attempt to deflect attention away from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The demands for Akume’s suspension were denounced by a northern advocacy group that was in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

They characterized the accusations as politically motivated and lacking any basis. The success of President Tinubu’s administration is feared by political saboteurs, who have engineered these acts.

Senator Akume has our full support, and we are grateful to President Tinubu for supporting an honest and capable leader. “Nigerian people must stand together and refuse to be manipulated by disingenuous stories,” Miaphen emphasized.

Keep in mind that the Arewa United Patriots wanted Akume suspended on suspicion of obstructing an inquiry into fraud.

At the same time, neither the EFCC nor the ICPC had made any official statements regarding the subject as of the report’s preparation.
