The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has secured the conviction of four suspected oil pipeline vandals.
DSC Anthony Uchenna, CDPRO, Delta State Command, said in a statement that Justice Olubanjo of the Federal High Court in Asaba convicted four defendants, Sylvania Elvis, Peter Ojichini, Bala Idris Adey, and Joel Bala Emmanuel, of conspiracy and interfering with oil pipelines.
According to the statement, the suspects, who were investigated by intelligence operatives from the NSCDC Delta State Command, were found guilty of the offences by the judge, who stated that the prosecution had proven the essential parts of the allegations beyond reasonable doubt.
They were condemned to prison on all counts.
The Delta State Commandant of NSCDC, Chinedu F. Igbo, warned criminals against all forms of vandalism and urged them to be law-abiding citizens.
He also advised them to take advantage of legitimate empowerment opportunities and avoid the consequences associated with criminal activities.
He pledged that the NSCDC Delta State Command would continue to protect the country’s economic assets.
