France Football, the organisers of the Ballon d’Or, a highly esteemed individual award, have announced the date of the reveal of the 2025 nominees.
The organisation announced the news on their official X account, saying that August 7th is when the nominees will be revealed.
On September 22nd, the field will be reduced from its regular 30 participants to choose the victor. The Manchester City star Rodri won it last year instead of Vinicius Jr., the Real Madrid forward.
Unfortunately, the Spain international has missed nearly an entire season of football due to a long-term injury, therefore he may not be considered one of the top 30 football talents this year.
Given that both PSG and Barcelona were among the top teams in Europe, it’s safe to assume that their players will be among the most heavily represented on the Ballon d’Or shortlist this year.
While Barcelona won a treble in Spain—league, cup, and Super Cup—PSG won a number of titles, including the UEFA Champions League.
Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Mohamed Salah, Kylian Mbappé, and the rest are expected to be named to the shortlist.
