Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, stated that there was a widespread belief they were contenders for the Premier League title following their 1-1 draw with Arsenal last month.
The Blues managed to take the lead against Mikel Arteta’s squad, even after being reduced to 10 players in the first half. However, Mikel Merino’s header meant that the league leaders departed Stamford Bridge with a point.
Since that match, Chelsea’s performance has declined, and they have not secured a victory, resulting in criticism directed at the manager.
“It’s something that unfortunately I cannot control [if anyone doesn’t have full faith in me],” Maresca shared with the press.
“After the Arsenal match, everyone was convinced we were title contenders. A week later, everyone is voicing complaints.
“It’s football, it’s our business!”
