They have returned home, the first batch of Lagos State pilgrims that participated in the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
Flight XY9014 of Flynas Airbus arrived in Lagos on Tuesday carrying 423 pilgrims, including 179 males and 244 females.
Dr. Jebe Abdullahi, who serves as both the Working Committee Chairman and the Special Advisor to the Governor on Islamic Matters, revealed this information in a statement that was made public to journalists in Lagos on Wednesday.
Dr. Abdullahi was pleased with the overall coordination and said that the Hajj activities in 2025 went off without a hitch.
He thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Mr. Ibrahim Layode, the Amirul-Hajj, and Commissioner for Home Affairs for their roles in making the trip a success.
He expressed his gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy for their unwavering assistance during Hajj operations in Lagos State.
The Hajj Pass, which allowed pilgrims to participate easily and helped keep Makkah holy, was one of the Saudi Arabian government’s measures that Abdullahi praised.
The fact that the Lagos pilgrims slept in a first-rate facility undoubtedly had an effect on how they conducted themselves while in the Holy Land, he continued.
The spiritual lessons of the Hajj, he said, should be internalised and reflected in the personal, professional, and communal life of the pilgrims.
According to Dr. Abdullahi, the level of Hajj administration in Lagos State and the nation as a whole was raised during the 2025 pilgrimage.
He emphasised that the committee will continue to work with NAHCON, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, and other interested parties to improve Hajj services in the future.
In accordance with NAHCON’s repatriation schedule, he claims that plans have been made to guarantee the safe return of the remaining pilgrims.
