Despite plans to hold the sanitation exercise on April 26th, the Kano State Government has postponed it.
It was said by Ismail Gwammaja, the Director of Public Enlightenment of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, that the suspension was put in place to guarantee the seamless administration of the current Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
The statement states that the decision to ensure that students of Kano State can sit for their UTME without any problems was reached after thorough deliberation and consultation with pertinent stakeholders.
Dr. Dahiru Hashim, the state’s commissioner for environment and climate change, reassured them that the sanitation exercise will restart in May 2025 and that the current suspension is merely for one month. Together with the authorities, he pleaded with the locals to comprehend the reasoning behind this decision and cooperate.
In the statement, he emphasized the state’s dedication to keeping the environment clean and healthy. He promised to work relentlessly to avoid any conflicts with other significant events happening in the state while carrying out cleanliness efforts.
The commissioner thanked the people for their patience and cooperation with the current government, but he also asked them to help keep the area clean by not throwing trash about carelessly and working with the sanitation workers.
