Ayekooto Akindele, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lambasted Nigerian musician Folarin Falana, often known as Falz, over his recent statements against Nigerian First Lady Remi Tinubu.
Falz chastised the First Lady during an interview on Arise TV for encouraging Afrobeats artists to avoid buying expensive automobiles and instead donate the money to charity causes.
The First Lady, who made the appeal in Lokoja on Saturday, asked the artists to support small-scale enterprises, claiming that the government is swamped.
Falz responded, claiming that it is only the role of the government to help struggling residents and business owners out of poverty.
“Why ask people when it is your responsibility to do? What exactly do you mean by “pressure on the government?” “Did anyone force you to take the job?” the rapper enquired.
He also noted that the campaign motto for this administration was “emilokan,” which means “it’s my turn.”
“From day one that you set out your political journey, this is the day you have been waiting for so how can you come and say pressure is much on you?”
Ayekooto responded to Falz’s rant with a post on his official X handle, asking the rapper to stop speaking jargon.
According to Ayekooto, Falz was not named in the First Lady’s request since he also requires assistance.
“Falz, quit using jargons. The First Lady did not mention your name, but she is aware that you, too, want assistance due to a career crisis. She just mentioned Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy.
“So, why you’re the one replying is what I don’t understand” , he said.
