To bring those responsible for running unlicensed private schools in Bauchi State to justice, the state government has declared its intention to set up a mobile court.
While on an inspection trip of chosen private schools in Bauchi metropolis, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the Commissioner for Education, revealed this.
The commissioner said that the Bauchi State House of Assembly and the Ministry of Justice would work together to build the proposed mobile court.
He explained the decision as an attempt to clean up the education system and ensure that all private schools in the state met minimum requirements.
He claimed that out of 47 private schools examined by the ministry, just 17 had proper registration and 30 were running illegally.
Abdulkadir issued a stern warning that owners of failing schools would be subject to closure or legal action.
Nonetheless, he assured that the government would keep cooperating with law-abiding school owners to raise educational standards and boost student achievement.
The commissioner urged other private schools to regularise their registration and praised Dolphin Maria College and Sunshine International Schools for meeting the necessary standards.
The business owners expressed their gratitude to the commissioner for the unprecedented inspection and promised to keep cooperating with the ministry.
Members of the Ministry of Education’s upper management, including the Permanent Secretary, were part of the inspection team.
